Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including arm control, budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also was frequently along with President Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
